Monsters University 3D Bluray Combo Art

I was sent a 3D Blu-ray combo pack to watch and review. Opinions of the movie are 100% my own.

Back in April I attended Monsters University on the Pixar Campus. It was an amazing couple of days meeting the movie’s director, producer and so many great people from Pixar. While I was at Pixar I screened the first 40 minutes of the movie. Later, when the movie came to theaters I took Eva and watched nearly the entire thing in a seat, the last 10 minutes or so is pretty intense and a bit scary for our little ones. Now, the movie is out to buy and we have a copy in our home. The whole family sat down to watch it and enjoyed it, up to the last 10 minutes where we sent the kids to bed and finished watching after they went to bed. Monsters University is a very good family film. You might want to watch it once through for the end stuff in case your children are prone to being frightened.

Eva did not enjoy herself because it was too loud and she started out scared from a 3D trailer for Happy Feet 2. Well, when the movie was over she told me that if we got a copy of The Lion King on DVD that we should sell it. The next day the DVD arrived for this review. I left it on the kitchen counter and Eva found it. She promptly told Allison that she loved the movie and wanted to watch it at night. Huh? Who is this kid who emotionally drained us when we watched it in 3D? No matter she’s all about The Lion King now.

The Lion King is one of Allison’s favorite movies ever and our family collection of Disney movies had an empty slot because somehow neither of us bought the movie when it originally was released. Now with the movie on Blu-ray and DVD in one set we can enjoy the movie over and over as a family. In between singing “the Tide is Hive” Eva has been singing songs from The Lion King. She gets giggly and terrified when I quote Scar (her least favorite character) and she loves when we pretend to be the hyenas saying “Mufasa!” Eva even had Allison color in a giant Crayola poster of Mufasa that hangs on her closet door now.
