We Miss Vilai
Photo-A-Day #1340

One of my co-workers left this past Friday and today when I arrived there was this sad dog sitting at her chair. I know who put it there and they spoke for all of us who miss her. She didn’t get fired or anything, she had to leave because she was moving. Anyway, we will be missing her with us.

the big box of awesome contest is going really well. There are so many people who have entered. Although I am finding that the other bloggers that I know are snooping around in my big box of awesome. They’ve gone through it and decided to reveal many of the items found within. That means I’m not going to have many other things to reveal on my own. I guess that means I have to add a couple more things in the box. If you are interested in finding out what items have already been revealed but please go visit these bloggers.

Today I came home to two boxes filled with awesome. The first was a 1 TB FreeAent XTreme external hard drive from Seagate. I won that from a contest on The Dirty Shirt. I will use that hard drive as a second backup for all of my photos. Because we are using digital cameras, digital video cameras and many other forms of capturing digital images the bulk of my relationship with Allison has been captured digitally. We would both be devastated if we lost those items. So my plan is to backup my images each month and place a second hard drive into a fireproof box. I think this will be the best way to ensure that we do not lose precious photos and memories.

The other box was filled with some items for Christmas. So I really can’t do a blog post about them right now. That information is going to drive Allison nuts. Sorry hon. much of this post has been written with Dragon NaturallySpeaking. I connected the wireless headset that I purchased the other day as my Christmas gift from Mimi and Grandpa Dano. The most part it’s worked really really well but I do need to train Dragon more.

Free up your hands

This morning I was looking at links coming into this blog. I noticed a bunch of people linking to me and my Dragon NaturallySpeaking Post. What I learned later was that my video for Dragon NaturallySpeaking was featured in a guest post by Brett Bumeter, who happens to be a friend of mine. Brett is the man when it comes to Dragon NaturallySpeaking. I’m posting his guest post and a video of another blogger here. The blogger who made this video is called SuperZ. He and I have one thing in common, our spelling. Okay we have two things in common, the fact that we have to rely on our wives to help us out with some mistakes on our blogs. Without further ado here is SuperZ’s video and Brett’s Guest post.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 Standard

I would also like to add that I received my Dragon NaturallySpeaking in a free download but had to get my own headset. You can get Dragon NaturallySpeaking and Type 150 Words per minute for $99! That includes a headset. Now a few words from Brett.

The video above was created by a blogger that goes by the name, SuperZ.

I couldn’t write that name before using Dragon NaturallySpeaking until I trained Dragon NaturallySpeaking to recognize the name SuperZ. I mention that because I’m using Dragon NaturallySpeaking right now to write this article (notice Dragon new when I said the words right now that I meant the word right and not the word to write).

I’ve been writing articles and reviews about Dragon NaturallySpeaking for close to two years. I’ve had a lot of experience with the software, and I wanted to reach out to other bloggers and see what they thought of the software.

SuperZ tried out the software and as you can see from his own video, the results that he’s getting after having used the software for just a week are pretty amazing. His computer is keeping up with just about every word that he says, and typing those words out for him in text.

Well frankly that’s exactly what Dragon NaturallySpeaking is supposed to do these days and it lives up to its claim of achieving 99% accuracy and I’ve clocked it typing faster than its claims of 150 words per minute.

That’s right you can type 150 words a minute with Dragon NaturallySpeaking. You do have to spend a little time editing from time to time, but you type so fast that editing doesn’t take that long. You get the typing done faster and the editing is a breeze because you only have to look at the way that you phrased words. Dragon NaturallySpeaking almost never makes a spelling mistake. It types out the entire word based on the vocabulary that has stored in the machine. So it really can’t misspell a word it’s pulling the word straight out of a dictionary.

The only exception might be the case when you run into a name like SuperZ, which is not in your dictionary yet. When you run across a name like that, all you have to do is add it into your dictionary and train the software to recognize that new word or name. It just takes a second and after that you’ll be able to say SuperZ all you like and Dragon NaturallySpeaking will know exactly what you are talking about.

Sincerely,
Brett Bumeter

PS this article includes about 381 words that I wrote with Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10. It took me about 4 minutes to write and 4 minutes to edit this article. The writing time included the short amount of time it took to train dragon to recognize the name SuperZ. Editing took 4 minutes because I’ve been working all night and I’m not reading too fast!
