And Like That… Fourteen

And Like That Fourteen
Photo-A-Day 2.0 #01014

Today was Eva’s actual birthday and I am glad that I had it off. We started the day off with Church and our annual birthday breakfast with dad. I took her to Mackie’s which was a last minute change for Eva. She had been saying that she wanted to do the Purple Rooster but changed her mind at the last second. We enjoyed a big breakfast and then headed to Lowes so that I could pick up a hacksaw for a project that we were working on later in the day. I took a quick nap because I worked the night before.

When I got up we went to the garage to work on Eva’s project. She is building a sword for her Halloween cosplay. She has almost every other part of her costume ready but tis is her first time building a sword using EVA Foam. We are just learning so after we cut everything and were about to put the pieces together with contact cement we realized that we had rubber cement which is not the same thing. So, we have to wait until the contact cement arrives.

We enjoyed a great dinner of Chinese food from House of Fortune. This was Eva’s choice as well as our evening movie which was Spider-Man: Far from Home. Eva has now completed all of the Marvel movies. She can move on to the Marvel TV shows. We had a very nice day celebrating Eva’s birthday.

Girls Acting Up For Good – The Greatest Showman

Eva in The Greatest Showman

I have not been as good about blogging lately, at least the personal stuff. Without my daily photos to keep me in check I start to slide in keeping up with detailing the important things happening in our lives. This past Wednesday Eva had her Girls Acting Up For Good performance. It was a really nice performance that was centered all around the movie The Greatest Showman. I have not seen the movie but Eva loved it and she wants me to watch it with her. I will have to do that soon. The movie is all about PT Barnum (fictionalized and many things glossed over) but it is also inspiring in that it is about many people who were not accepted into society but were accepted in the circus. I know that there is much controversy over the movie glossing over things and the fact that circus people were not treated very well, however, the message that I think the kids were to take from this was accepting differences.

Girls Acting Up For Good has been an excellent program for Eva. She loves performing and has gotten much more confident with each show. In the program the girls learn about historical figures and are encouraged to encourage and support one another. There is a very good message there that is trying to be instilled in each of the girls.
