Force Friday II Is This Friday!

Force Friday II

STAR WARS: The Last Jedi is arriving in theaters this December but the excitement kicks off this Friday with Force Friday II. Force Friday is the day when new Star Wars toys are released. Two years ago before The Force Awakens I was part of campaign to promote the movie and Force Friday. It was an awesome campaign. However, this year, nothing for me except me except for a Press Release about the day and something new with Augmented Reality. This year you can use your mobile phones to reveal a new Star Wars Character and in various locations around the world you can use the Star Wars app to turn major landmarks into something Star Wars related. Also, many places are doing something special all around. You can see what is happening by going to http://www.starwars.com/news/force-friday-ii-guide-to-events-giveaways-and-more.

In Massachusetts you can go to the Burlington Mall and at the Disney Store there you can get all the new toys plus activities, giveaway and a special Find the Force augmented reality treasure hunt where you can unlock characters with the Star Wars app. More info below. Force Friday

Photo-A-Day #3801

After 123 counting down, we are finally at #ForceFriday. Force Friday is the day when the new STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS toys hit the shelves. I could have gone to any of the local celebrations at Target, Walmart or Toys R US but I was way too tired to go. I really was planning on doing it, too. I’m kind of glad that I didn’t because when I hit the stores today I learned that Toys R Us didn’t get over 50% of their intended shipments, Walmart was limiting shoppers to 2 total items and when I went to Target they didn’t have much either. I really wasn’t in it for anything other than the new Hot Wheels cars that are inspired by the characters from the new movie. I saw a couple online and had to add them to my collection. Unfortunately I didn’t find them anywhere.

The big deal toy is the BB8 Droid and it is going for around $150. That is, if you can find it. Here are some additional toys and especially exclusives. Despite not going last night I decided to take the kids to Toys R Us today. Sure they get lots of toys from my reviews but I let them take some of their own money and pick out something. I learned that Andrew is easy to guide to something that we’d like for him to choose whereas Eva felt a panic time crunch and wanted to choose any old thing including things that weren’t so great like fake makeup and such. I had hoped that they would have gone for the Star Wars figures from Playskool because they would go with the other figures of the same size that they currently play with, but I had no takers. I may just have to get them myself.

I did like the LEGO sets that came out for the movie and though about possibly picking one up. However, I have two large boxes in the basement of LEGO Star Wars toys from when they first were released by LEGO back in the 90s. I’m waiting till Andrew is a little older to start breaking those out. Below I have information about the exclusives as well as a recap of some fun Force Friday things that went on including the global unboxing that I told you about the other day. I have to go watch that one on the Hot Wheels cars and some of the Black Series 6 inch figures from Hasbro. Continue reading Force Friday
