Hike at Moose Hill

Photo-A-Day #3771

Today we took the kids over to the MA Audubon Wildlife Sanctuary, Moose Hill. This was the first time that we had been to this particular sanctuary. It is the oldest MA Audubon sanctuary and sits on 1971 acres. It is pretty huge with a ton of trails. We did a short loop hike called Billings Loop. It was pretty flat the whole way and the kids did a good job for the most part. Andrew wanted a snack ten steps into the hike. Then Allison tried to get him to ride the piggyback rider but he kept stepping off and then wanted to go back down and walk.

We packed a picnic lunch and the kids enjoyed climbing around on some rocks. I took my camera with me and Eva took her camera with her. She had fun taking photos all over the trail. I brought my 50-150S lens and my Fisheye. I had fun with both of those lenses. I shot a bunch of dragonflies and this one butterfly with torn up wings. This is one place that I look forward to going back to for more hikes.

Family Adventure Day at Wellfleet Audubon Sanctuary

Photo-A-Day #3373

We took the kids to the Wellfleet Audubon Sanctuary today to hike and check out the area. It is part of our adventure Wednesdays where we are trying to do something fun once a week all Summer. We joined the Audubon Society for this very reason, to get out and explore places.

The Wellfleet Audubon Sanctuary was a very nice place to visit. There are tons of wide trails that go from the visitor center right out to the ocean. The trail that we chose was one where we were able to walk along a great boardwalk and there were Fiddler Crabs all over the place. They were so much fun for the kids. They were delighted to see all the crabs. The walk was pretty nice, too.

We also had the opportunity to visit with my grandparents. We went over to their house and caught a little bit of a nap before they got home. Then when they came home I helped fix some computer issues. Andrew had fun doing blocks with Grandpa and Grandpa was delighted to play with Andrew and he even got down on the floor to play with him.

We then went to Chatham Fish Pier to meet up with Aunt Cindy and Uncle Wayne. We watched the seals in the harbor and then had a great meal of a Fisherman’s Platter. It was a nice day on the Cape.
