Review – Transformers Prime – Beast Hunters – Predacons Rising

Photo-A-Day #3082

I was sent an advanced copy of Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters: Predacons Rising to watch and review. Opinions are 100% my own.

This Emmy Award-Winning, Ground-Breaking series comes to a stunning and spectacular conclusion in this 90 minute epilogue movie. To say that I liked it would be an understatement. It was fantastic. Here is the trailer.

The action picks up shortly after the events of the series finale. The Autobots are on a newly restored but not rebuilt Cybertron sans Ratchet who stayed with the humans on Earth. Starscream and Shockwave are on the loose along with an injured Predaking. Knock Out and many vehicons are prisoners. Megatron lies dead at the bottom of the ocean. Prime determines that it is time to search for the Allspark which he sent into deep space near the end of the Great War to keep it from Megatron. Unicron revives Megatron to serve as his physical vessel to exact revenge on Primus and this is where the story begins.

I won’t go into particulars of the movie at this time because it doesn’t come out for another couple of weeks (October 8th, mark your calendar). I will say that I watched it twice on the same day and it was satisfying and hit the emotional notes in the right places. Transformers Prime definitely has been the absolute best Transformers series ever to be put on the air. It took into consideration all that came before it and ushers in a new era of Transformers storytelling like never before. This DVD is a must for any fan.

I also liked the special feature of a behind the scenes look at the team at Polygon Studios in Japan. The way that the American and Japanese teams worked together certainly helped make this a truly special series.

Review: Transformers Prime The Game for the Nintendo Wii & DS

I’ve played every Transformers game for the Wii that has come out. All the movie ones, the Cybertron ones and now I got my hands on a copy of Transformers Prime the Video Game. Some of the past games have missed the mark but this one has impressed me from the jump. The story follows team Prime (Optimus, Bumblebee, Ratchet, Arcee and Bulkhead plus the kids Jack, Miko and Raf) as they try and stop the Decepticons from obtaining a asteroid sized chunk of dark energon. You take on the role of a different Autobot with each mission starting with Optimus Prime. I liked this because some games you never got to play Optimus until much later. He’s a fan favorite and I think it is great that you can play him first. Continue reading Review: Transformers Prime The Game for the Nintendo Wii & DS
