The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part – Review and Giveaway

The Lego Movie 2 The Second Part 4K 2DWarner Bros. sent this video to me for free so I could review it.

We are LEGO fans in our house. Don’t even get me started about how many we have. Each week I create videos for the YouTube channel, Built From Bricks which is a LEGO themed show. Even more most recent post is about buying LEGO sets at Shop LEGO. So, when The LEGO Movie came out I was there and I loved it. However, when The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part came out I was there for an early screening with the family and I laughed like crazy through the entire thing. To me, it was better than the first one. So, when I was offered the chance to review the DVD/Blu-Ray Digital Combo pack I definitely was going to say yes.

How fitting that the movie that has a song called “Catchy Song” would have a Sing-A-Long version of the film. But the Sing-A-Long version is even more crazy than just a sing-a-long. There are quizzes, bat-puns, trivia and more pop ups than you can handle. In a movie that is already a visual overload of awesome the Sing-A-Long version pushes it to the max.

What I liked most about this movie was that it drew on so many things from the first movie which made the entire movie almost like one long series of in-jokes. Not only that but the references to other movies and even to the fact that Batman had a stand alone adventure was addressed. I wasn’t sure how this new movie would incorporate a little sister but I think that they really captured an all too familiar family dynamic. Having two kids who are four years apart I can see how they are growing apart in some ways but in others they still are able to play together and enjoy each other’s company.

Then there is being really into LEGO and then drifting away but then returning to it. That happened for me. I was so into it as a kid, creating all the time and then eventually I found other interests and put them aside. I came back to them later in life and now have a whole new appreciate for LEGO. This movie captures that cycle well and is hilarious all the way through.

I have the opportunity to give away one copy of the movie on blu-ray. To enter use the Rafflecopter widget below.
