15th Anniversary Weekend Spa Day

post spa outing
Photo-A-Day 2.0 #00978

This morning we headed down to Foxwoods Casino for a couple of days to celebrate our 15th/16th wedding anniversary. Today was our day to spend at G Spa. This is a spa inside the Fox Tower. By getting services at the spa we had use of the pool and sauna and other amenities. We got there a bit ahead of our couple’s massage and so we used the hot tub and the pool to relax after the drive. The spa also had outside balconies if we wanted to hang out there as well.

Our couple’s massage was an 80 minute massage and it was very relaxing. Afterwards we received champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. We enjoyed those and then Allison had a manicure and a pedicure to go to while I was free to use the amenities of the spa. There is a men’s section and a women’s section. Locker rooms that had things like whirlpools, saunas, showers, a television and seating area and more. They also had shaving cream and disposable razors. I had the time, so I meticulously shaved my face and head. When I have the time I really want to shave so close that no matter which way I rub my hand over my head it is smooth. It goes away after one day but I still like to do it once in a while.

Once we were done with the spa we headed to our hotel. I’m rather cheap when it comes to hotels and this time I found a very interesting place called the Cedar Park Inn and Whirlpool Suites. The place was seven miles from Foxwoods and since neither of us had any desire to spend more time at the casino than it took to enjoy our events there it made sense to stay off property. This was an interesting place. Each building was the shape of an octagon and the way the rooms were laid out was an interior designer’s nightmare. However, it was a clean room and had what we needed to sleep and shower, so not too bad a choice overall. Plus, we’ll always have stories of me having to shimmy out of bed because the bed was right against the wall and then always forgetting that the bathroom door did not open all the way without getting stuck. Little things like that. But you could tell that they were trying there. So it all worked out.

We then headed in to Stonington to get some dinner. I had found a few places and the first one we went to was only taking reservation. The host seemed a bit too full of himself so we left to find someplace else. The place that we did find was Bridge Restaurant, Raw Bar & River Patio. This place had our vibe. It was laid back and homey with a nice view of the river and very pleasant staff. The food was also excellent. We got some griddled corn bread and RI style Tater Tots to share. I got a burger and Allison got the swordfish tacos. Everything was excellent. We then split a slice of key lime pie for dessert.

and of course, since we are who we are we took photos of our meals.

We headed back to the hotel after dinner and got some rest for tomorrow’s adventures.

Winter Vacation Options Are Abundant on Vacasa

A Family Photo from the 80’s when we went on Winter Vacations.

Growing up we had vacation homes. My father and his friend built one in New Hampshire and we would go up their in the Winter and the Summer. The winters then were so much fun because there was always a ton of snow. We’d sled down one of the streets because it was completely covered and there were hardly any people around. We’d go from our street all the way down the large hill to the pond. We’d also go to the local ski resorts and more. Winters were some of the best times to spend at that house.

With my own kids we have not done much in the way of Winter vacations but if we were to start looking for one to rent or one to buy then we could start with the website Vacasa. The website has everything that you need if you are looking into vacation homes. They have vacation rentals, property management and real estate. There is everything you want in order for you and your family to enjoy Winter vacations all over. If you are not sure exactly where you want to go then Vacasa has got you covered with their Winter Vacation Report. Continue reading Winter Vacation Options Are Abundant on Vacasa
