Samsung Mobile Gear VR

Ever since the Samsung event that announced the Samsung Gear VR I have been eagerly awaiting its release. Mine arrived the other day. I quickly put it to use and installed Oculus on my Galaxy S7 Edge phone. I had been waiting for this personal VR device so that I could watch Netflix during my breaks at work in my very own virtual theater. I started off by watching the new Voltron Legendary Defender. The Gear VR and Netflix is so cool. You can select many different types of backdrops from a movie theater to space to a fine home. I was completely engrossed in watching the show on my Gear VR.

This is a must buy for the tech dad for Father’s Day and there is a great Samsung Gear VR deal at Best Buy. The offer is good 6/5-6/18 online or in Best Buy stores. You can get a free Samsung Gear VR with $50 worth of virtual reality content when you buy or lease and activate a Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 edge, S6, S6 edge, S6 edge+ or Note5.

Samsung Mobile

I am barely scratching the surface of what the Samsung Gear VR can do. Power the Gear VR with one of Samsung’s amazing phones and you have an incredible mobile virtual reality entertainment device. There are many games for the Gear VR including EVE:Gunjack and Jurassic World Apatosaurus. You end up right in the thick of the action. There are even wireless game controllers that work with the different games. You can learn more about the Samsung Gear VR on the Best Buy website.

Did You Get Your Star Wars Google Cardboard?

BB-8 Google Cardboard

I ran over to Verizon today to pick up the new Star Wars themed Google Cardboard. When I went in to the store I ran into my friend Brian from Built From Bricks. We talked for a bit and then I got my own Google Cardboard. I chose the BB-8 one. There were some R2-D2 ones, Stormtrooper ones and Kylo Ren ones. They were out of the Kylo Ren ones so I took BB-8. It is a pretty great little device. I got it for free because I am a Verizon subscriber.

When I finally got a chance to try out Google Cardboard I took a tour around our solar system. The app that I used was Titans of Space – Cardboard VR. So as you use this you are flying from planet to planet and learning some basic facts about each one. It was very cool. I later installed the Star Wars app and there is a little feature in that one called Jakku Spy where there will be plenty of little updates leading up to the new movie which I will be seeing two weeks from today.
