Training Dragons

Photo-A-Day #2133

Tonight I was home alone. Allison and Eva went up to New Hampshire to greet our new baby nephew. Allison’s Brother and Sister-In-Law had a beautiful baby boy. Allison couldn’t wait to see them so she went up for the day and took Eva as well. When they checked in they were having a very good time.

Left to my own devices I went and rented a movie that was not high on Allison’s or Eva’s lists. I rented How To Train Your Dragon. I’ve heard nothing but good things about this movie.I heard people say that this story is what Avatar should have been. I have to say, the story was a great one. the characters likable. there was no really bad guy in the characters. There was a big bad at some point but I don’t want to give anything away. But as far as there being a character that was unlikeable, I didn’t find a one.

The musical score was fantastic but the mixing was off. The music was way to loud above the characters and their dialog. If I turned the sound up the music just got way louder and I still couldn’t hear the dialog as well. But the music was great and the story simple but well done.

I guess that this movie is based on a series of books and I just might have to pick them up and read them. I do love dragons and vikings and tales of adventure such as this.

I’m pretty sure that this movie would scare the bezeesus out of Eva because of all the fire and the dragons so it is good that she was not home to watch. Maybe when she gets older she’d like it. The kids in the movie was fun characters. The main character was really good and I loved the main dragon, Toothless. If you haven’t seen it go out and rent it, very fun movie.

  1. That is one of our family favorites as well! And I have a little boy in my Sunday School class who keeps telling us his family is getting a dog and they will name it Toothless.
