Waiting for the Avengers to Assemble

Photo-A-Day #2563

My friend and co-host of Geek Dads Weekly, Daniel M. Clark got to see a preview screening of The Avengers. Man I am so jealous. I’ve not seen anything for advanced screenings around here. I guess that there was some contest on Facebook that picked 5 cities that had the most likes for the Avenger’s page. His city was one of them and he got a ticket. I’m glad for him actually and not so much jealous. Daniel is a big comic book geek and this is perfect for him. Of course he’s got to wait three weeks to be able to talk about it with anyone.

The Avengers are appearing everywhere. There is a big push at Target, too. You can see Hulk’s footprints all around the toy section and there are a ton of movie toys. Eva even came home the other day with a Captain America shield. She calls herself Queen America, she gave herself a promotion. I can’t wait to see what she decides to wear for Free Comic Book Day this year.

The coolest thing, in my opinion, is that there are LEGO sets for The Avengers. I’ve seen four of them so far online including a fifth one that has Wolverine who is a sometimes Avenger. I love that the hulk figure is not a minifig but a huge character. That is pretty cool.

So I’ll wait a few weeks and then see the movie, in the meantime I have The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes on DVD that I can watch, maybe Eva might like that. I know that she’s going to want to know all about the movie. So maybe I should get the LEGO sets and can act it out for her when I tell her about it.

I also got two new apps to review. Check out the descriptions of these apps. I’ll be reviewing them while on vacation.

“Avengers Origins: Hulk”
Follow Stan Lee’s story narration of Dr. Bruce Banner’s epic transformation into the Incredible Hulk. The app features detailed artwork, cutting-edge animations, and interactive touch-screen activities, including roaring, transforming into the Hulk, and testing the Hulk’s strength by breaking through walls, stopping tanks, and more. Available for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch ($1.99).

“Avengers Origins: Assemble!”
The “Assemble” story is the perfect introduction to exciting Super Heroes like Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, and more. The app features innovative, interactive activities include matching heroic accessories with each Super Hero, using Thor’s powers and the Hulk’s strength to stop the Atlanteans and Namor, and melting the ice to free Captain America from his frozen prison! Available for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch ($1.99).
