Who Do You Love? The 6.0 Boys

Photo-A-Day #1757

Today was the annual Sales and Marketing Kickoff. It is one of the best days of the year for me because I’ve been able to control the goings on from the auditorium soundbooth. I enjoy being in charge of technical stuff and making things flow along smoothly (at least the video stuff). The guys ion the U2 photo above (U2 photo because the band U2 does not look at the camera in their band photos) are Damian, John, Steve and Drew. These guys re-wrote the song Who Do You Love as well as 867-5309 to play live at the kickoff. This group of guys have so much talent. They received a standing ovation after their performance. It was awesome.

Steve and John are brothers and part of a band called Persons of Interest. They play in the local area, I’ve yet to see them but I believe the shows are pretty fun. Knowing these guys as I do that is a fair assumption. Here is an example of the band playing live.

You can see more from the band on their Persons of Interest YouTube channel.

Last night Allison and I had our second FPU (Financial Peace University) class. It was pretty good. The video was entertaining and then we broke up into small groups to work on a few questions. I liked how that worked because being able to talk with the other people in the group and offer solutions to money problems made me feel like I’m not a complete financial failure.

I can already see some changes happening and starting with today’s paycheck we’re going all cash for the next month and hopefully all months after that. It helps that today was bonus day at work. I am rather fortunate to not only be working but also working to a place that still gives employees bonuses. I know I had an off day the other day but it looks like I’m finally getting people to train and I’m pretty excited about that. I can finally use those talents.

  1. I think it’s awesome when you can have fun at work. Too many people don’t.

I’m a firm believer in paying cash whenever possible. We have debit MasterCards from our bank, and use those a lot…all of the convenience of a credit card, but we know that it comes out of the bank account, just like cash. We have pretty much stopped using our credit cards for anything, except when we really need something and don’t have enough cash in the bank to pay for it. Examples of this were replacing our washer/dryer when they died their final death (after Mike repaired them 1,000 times before), and buying new tires for the Catmobile. Yeah, we could just go to the laundromat, but that’s more expensive in the long run, plus, it’s a huge time-sucker, as someone has to sit there and guard the clothes, or else they might be stolen. And Mike needs a car with tires to get to work, or else we’d have almost no money at all!

But since we don’t put tons of little stuff on the credit cards, we can pay them down quickly. Paying cash for most stuff really makes you think more about what you buy, you set priorities that way, and only buy stuff you really need. Little luxuries are bought only when you know you can cover the necessities first.
.-= Look at what Christine wrote blog ..My exciting weekend =-.

    1. Christine,
Once a year we have this very fun event. The rest is work.
Today we started using the envelope system and even Allison started watching some Dave Ramsey shows.
