WordPress Providence Lightning Talks

Photo-A-Day #1936

Tonight I went to McFadden’s Restaurant & Saloon for the latest WordPress Providence Meetup. I got there pretty early too because I’m not officially one of the Organizers of WordPress Providence. We discussed the upcoming meetups and there are some great things ahead. But first we had Lightning Talks and I was doing one of them.

But I wasn’t alone, there were 5 other great speakers on hand tonight all giving great topics. I took video of everyone’s talk and am going to get that video up as soon as I can. Topics ranged from plugins for photos, personal branding, how to make the best from WordPress 3.0. The speakers were Jake Goldman, Luke Gedeon, Melinda Rainsberger, Rosanne Cedroni, Kevin Mandeville and me. Everyone got five minutes to give the crowd some knowledge and we certainly learned a lot in a short period of time. I have to say that I really love being a part of this meetup group. There is such a creative energy happening.

The photo of the day is of someone that I met at the meetup. This is Owen Muir and he was a pretty fascinating guy. He’s a photographer but also a teacher. He teaches digital media to high school kids and he was telling me about some of the projects that he’s done with the kids and they sounded really cool.

My talk was all about photo plugins. I wrote a post on the same subject over at Blogging tips.com and here is my presentation, it is pretty quick. It is also the first time I’ve made a presentation through Google Docs.

  1. This is a great idea to have a local WordPress meetup group and exchange ideas and such. This inspired me to make one.

    Thanks,

    1. Justin,
