A Father’s Day Cook Out and Andy’s First Communion ...

A Father’s Day Cook Out and Andy’s First Communion

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #00538

Before the pandemic hit Andy was supposed to make his First Communion this past May. It did not happen, obviously. So, when we started attending the outdoor Masses our Pastor, Fr. Rodney noticed that Andy still had not made his First Communion. Fr. Rodney reached out to Allison this past Monday and asked if Andy wanted to make his First Communion today. Andy could make his First Reconciliation on Friday and be ready to go on Sunday. So, it was all very last minute. The nice thing, however is that our Church has been streaming live Masses on Facebook and anyone who could not be there physically could attend virtually. You can watch that Mass here.

Allison, Eva and Andy

Andy was so proud to wear his suit. He loved wearing it. It is funny, most kids would not like to get dressed up in a suit in 91 degree weather but he knew the importance of the day and was so happy to be dressed up. He does not get that from me.

Andy has this funny way of standing in a suit. It is almost like he’s been reading GQ or something. He’s got his hands holding the suit and he puts one foot forward and only smiled when we really got him going.

We got to the Saint Mary’s parking lot early enough so that we could take some photos before the Mass. My parents came from the Cape and were able to attend.

After Mass we had Andy pose with Father Rodney in their masks. Allison made Andy a special mask with bow ties on it. Ironically Andy did not want to wear a bow tie today but felt the regular black tie was a better choice.

After Mass we all went back to our house for a cook out. I had gotten burgers and dogs from Chartley Country store. In addition to our family and my parents we also had our friend Colleen come over. Allison and Andy made coleslaw, potato and macaroni salads. Allison also made a cake that had blue icing that perfectly matched Andy’s new room color.

The three Andrews

Since it was Father’s day we had to make sure that we got the photo above. Gotta get all three Andrews together whenever there is a special occasion.

More photos at home before we ate dinner.

Andys Cake

Dinner was really nice with Burgers, dogs, corn, salads (Mom brought a garden salad, too) and finished off with Cake and Ice Cream.

We then exchanged gifts for Andy’s First Communion, My parent’s Anniversary and then Father’s Day. Eva certainly has an very special way in which she writes cards. Such a way with words. I enjoyed Father’s Day and my Father’s Day gift, the new grill.

Review: Lumibricks Izakaya Building ...

The folks from Lumibricks sent me their latest building set, the Izakaya for free to build and review. Opinions are 100% my own. I've built a few sets from Lumibricks (formerly FunWhole) in the past and they are really fun and interesting. The photo above is of the Izakaya and also The Apartment. they are both part of a Cyberpunk theme called Neoncity. At this time there are also two additional buildings that you can build and add to this whole theme, the Game Stack and the Floating Train Station. The great things about these sets is that they light up. As you build you are also adding lights and wires and ways to illuminate the amazing build. Once you're done building you fire up some power and the lights blaze up. With Neoncity sets you get some incredible Nenon effects light signs and even neon tube lights. That is one of the coolest things about these sets is how the lights are incorporated into the build. Some very innovative bricks were made in order to thread the wiring...

Christmas Tree Is Up ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02510 Yesterday we put up the trees and today we decided to decorate the tree after dinner. Our tree is now mostly our family photo ornaments. We have a bunch of ornaments but with over 20 years of family photo ornaments it look like the predominant ornament type that we'll see. We did get a 2025 Hallmark one as well and I have to select this year's photo.

2025 Family Ornament ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02515 We put our tree up the other day and I had already bought the 2025 Hallmark Keepsake ornament for our yearly family photo ornament. I love these ornaments on the tree. We have them from 2005 to now.
