New Bike, New Training Wheels… For Now…

New Bike, New Training Wheels… For Now…

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #00549

We went to the Cape today. Stuck in about 2 hours of traffic on the ride down. We usually go at different, more off, times but today we got stuck in the mix. This means that there are going to be many, many people on the Cape. We’ll have to switch things up a bit to protect ourselves from the general public. Social Distancing is out the window unless we do it ourselves. So, it means going to the beach before the crush of people descend upon the space and disregard any and all of the posted rules for being at the beach. So, that will be an adventure.

Last week when we were down Andy was riding his old bike, a 16″ bmx type bike and he just could not keep up with his cousins. He was also practically hitting his chin with his knees over and over as he pedaled. It made for a rather frustrating adventure on everyone’s part. But, he kept at it and kept trying.

While we were home this past week I ordered some training wheels to put on Eva’s old bike. Luckily the bike is black and purple, two colors that Andy loves and it looks like a hybrid of the traditional girl vs. boy style of bike. So it is perfect for Andy. The bike is a 20″ one and the new training wheels work for bikes from 16″ – 20″. I put on the training wheels and ran into the same problem that I had with the existing training wheels. There is a plastic spot garding the chain that made it impossible to put the training wheels on right. Luckily my dad had a tool that could cut part of that plastic part off and the training wheels could be attached.

These are some nice training wheels that look like rollerblade. Then we discovered that the wheels light up when they spin. The training wheels package also came with a little bell and that thrilled Andy to no end.

We’ll be going out each night when the parking lot clears out so Andy can practice. By the end of the Summer or sooner he’ll be off those training wheels for good.

Review: Lumibricks Izakaya Building ...

The folks from Lumibricks sent me their latest building set, the Izakaya for free to build and review. Opinions are 100% my own. I've built a few sets from Lumibricks (formerly FunWhole) in the past and they are really fun and interesting. The photo above is of the Izakaya and also The Apartment. they are both part of a Cyberpunk theme called Neoncity. At this time there are also two additional buildings that you can build and add to this whole theme, the Game Stack and the Floating Train Station. The great things about these sets is that they light up. As you build you are also adding lights and wires and ways to illuminate the amazing build. Once you're done building you fire up some power and the lights blaze up. With Neoncity sets you get some incredible Nenon effects light signs and even neon tube lights. That is one of the coolest things about these sets is how the lights are incorporated into the build. Some very innovative bricks were made in order to thread the wiring...

2025 Family Ornament ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02515 We put our tree up the other day and I had already bought the 2025 Hallmark Keepsake ornament for our yearly family photo ornament. I love these ornaments on the tree. We have them from 2005 to now.

Christmas Tree Is Up ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02510 Yesterday we put up the trees and today we decided to decorate the tree after dinner. Our tree is now mostly our family photo ornaments. We have a bunch of ornaments but with over 20 years of family photo ornaments it look like the predominant ornament type that we'll see. We did get a 2025 Hallmark one as well and I have to select this year's photo.
