We received a copy of The Unofficial Hogwarts Cookbook for Kids for free to review and enjoy. Opinions are our own.Getting my son excited about dinner can be a challenge. The thing that has helped the most is involving him in the meal preparation. When Andy can help out he’s more than happy to eat the meal. He loves learning to prep meals and his skills are getting better.

andy reading the recipe book

The Unofficial Hogwarts Cookbook for Kids had a ton of great recipes. Andy read through the whole thing and picked out two recipes to make for dinner tonight. He picked a meal and also a dessert. He chose Bubble and Squeak for dinner and The Knickerbocker Glory for dessert.

Andy cutting carrots

Andy was working well with the knife and cutting up the carrots for the Bubble and Squeak. This was a a good recipe for including veggies which is another thing that kids should be eating.

andy measuring ingredients

Andy is also good at measuring out ingredients.

Andy cooking

Andy is skilled at making omelets. They are his favorite thing. He can make them on his own with adult supervision.

Finished Meal

The finished Bubble and Squeak looked amazing. The meal looked great in the book and I think it piqued Andy’s interest immediately. Because of all the ingredients the dish was so colorful. It made for something very special on the table.

dessert

Our dessert turned out amazing. I was so excited about this one because of the strawberries. I love desserts with Strawberries.

Andy making dessert

We were very pleased with our meal and dessert. We cannot wait to try out so many of the other recipes like Pumpkin Pasties, Cauldron Cakes, Rock Cakes, Bath Buns and Groundskeeper’s Mystery Casserole. There are a bunch more recipes inside. Review: Lumibricks Izakaya Building ...

The folks from Lumibricks sent me their latest building set, the Izakaya for free to build and review. Opinions are 100% my own. I've built a few sets from Lumibricks (formerly FunWhole) in the past and they are really fun and interesting. The photo above is of the Izakaya and also The Apartment. they are both part of a Cyberpunk theme called Neoncity. At this time there are also two additional buildings that you can build and add to this whole theme, the Game Stack and the Floating Train Station. The great things about these sets is that they light up. As you build you are also adding lights and wires and ways to illuminate the amazing build. Once you're done building you fire up some power and the lights blaze up. With Neoncity sets you get some incredible Nenon effects light signs and even neon tube lights. That is one of the coolest things about these sets is how the lights are incorporated into the build. Some very innovative bricks were made in order to thread the wiring...

2025 Family Ornament ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02515 We put our tree up the other day and I had already bought the 2025 Hallmark Keepsake ornament for our yearly family photo ornament. I love these ornaments on the tree. We have them from 2005 to now.

Christmas Tree Is Up ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02510 Yesterday we put up the trees and today we decided to decorate the tree after dinner. Our tree is now mostly our family photo ornaments. We have a bunch of ornaments but with over 20 years of family photo ornaments it look like the predominant ornament type that we'll see. We did get a 2025 Hallmark one as well and I have to select this year's photo.
