Review: The Ultimate Aang & Korra Blu-ray Collection

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #01082

We received a free copy of The Ultimate Aang and Korra Blu-rayTM Collection from Nickelodeon. Opinions are our own.

We have an interesting history with Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra in this house. I noticed that Avatar was on Netflix and suggested that the kids and I begin watching it together. After watching the first episode and the kids not being as enthused as I thought they would be we stopped watching. Then Eva watched the entire series on her own and loved it. She then dove into The Legend of Korra. Now she was the expert on both shows and I had to play catch up when I was the one who wanted to watch the shows in the first place… with the kids.

Well, we can watch the shows from start to finish now with this new collection from Nickelodeon. The Ultimate Aang and Korra Blu-rayTM Collection came out on December 7th and it is filled with so many extras including 80 minutes of never before seen content. One of those bits of content is a special recording with newly launched Avatar: Braving the Elements podcast hosts Janet Varney (voice of “Korra”) and Dante Basco (voice of “Zuko,” “General Iroh”). It is great seeing the two together talking about the shows. The other special new feature is exploring the Auditory Avatarverse with creators Mike DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. They talk about how the music from the score was influenced and they then also get into a conversation with the Foley artists and this brings up so much of the subtleties of the shows beyond the visual art and amazing voice cast.

The set also features eight collectible art cards a that are done in the Japanese Sumi art style. The cards feature Aang, Sokka, Katara and Zuko from Avatar and Korra, Mako, Asami and Bolin. These are beautiful cards. This is all of the new stuff. The disc are also packed with hours of additional bonus materials for even the biggest Avatar and Legend of Korra fans out there. Audio commentary, behind the scenes animatics and so much more.

Review: Lumibricks Izakaya Building ...

The folks from Lumibricks sent me their latest building set, the Izakaya for free to build and review. Opinions are 100% my own. I've built a few sets from Lumibricks (formerly FunWhole) in the past and they are really fun and interesting. The photo above is of the Izakaya and also The Apartment. they are both part of a Cyberpunk theme called Neoncity. At this time there are also two additional buildings that you can build and add to this whole theme, the Game Stack and the Floating Train Station. The great things about these sets is that they light up. As you build you are also adding lights and wires and ways to illuminate the amazing build. Once you're done building you fire up some power and the lights blaze up. With Neoncity sets you get some incredible Nenon effects light signs and even neon tube lights. That is one of the coolest things about these sets is how the lights are incorporated into the build. Some very innovative bricks were made in order to thread the wiring...

Christmas Tree Is Up ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02510 Yesterday we put up the trees and today we decided to decorate the tree after dinner. Our tree is now mostly our family photo ornaments. We have a bunch of ornaments but with over 20 years of family photo ornaments it look like the predominant ornament type that we'll see. We did get a 2025 Hallmark one as well and I have to select this year's photo.

2025 Family Ornament ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02515 We put our tree up the other day and I had already bought the 2025 Hallmark Keepsake ornament for our yearly family photo ornament. I love these ornaments on the tree. We have them from 2005 to now.
