Allison’s Quarantine Birthday ...

Allison was sick with COVID this year for her birthday. We did as best we could to make it a nice day for her. Andy baked and decorated a lovely cake that was sure to brighten up her spirits. Andy also used his new Ninja Creami to create a bourbon walnut ice cream as well as a chocolate chip ice cream. We’ll have to keep playing with that new toy to figure out how to better distribute the mix-ins throughout the entire container of ice cream. It was quite good, though.

For dinner we got some Thai food from Blue Moon. Andy discovered that he enjoys Pad Thai and so we need to get crispy chicken pad thai from now on. Andy and Eva made Allison some nice things for her birthday and I got her a nice bottle of wine. We’re also going to see Come From Away next month as her birthday gift. It was definitely tough for her not to be able to enjoy her dinner and dessert with us but we were able to sing Happy Birthday and say grace together.

Review: Lumibricks Izakaya Building ...

The folks from Lumibricks sent me their latest building set, the Izakaya for free to build and review. Opinions are 100% my own. I've built a few sets from Lumibricks (formerly FunWhole) in the past and they are really fun and interesting. The photo above is of the Izakaya and also The Apartment. they are both part of a Cyberpunk theme called Neoncity. At this time there are also two additional buildings that you can build and add to this whole theme, the Game Stack and the Floating Train Station. The great things about these sets is that they light up. As you build you are also adding lights and wires and ways to illuminate the amazing build. Once you're done building you fire up some power and the lights blaze up. With Neoncity sets you get some incredible Nenon effects light signs and even neon tube lights. That is one of the coolest things about these sets is how the lights are incorporated into the build. Some very innovative bricks were made in order to thread the wiring...

2025 Family Ornament ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02515 We put our tree up the other day and I had already bought the 2025 Hallmark Keepsake ornament for our yearly family photo ornament. I love these ornaments on the tree. We have them from 2005 to now.

Christmas Tree Is Up ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02510 Yesterday we put up the trees and today we decided to decorate the tree after dinner. Our tree is now mostly our family photo ornaments. We have a bunch of ornaments but with over 20 years of family photo ornaments it look like the predominant ornament type that we'll see. We did get a 2025 Hallmark one as well and I have to select this year's photo.
