Fourth of July 2025 …

Fourth of July 2025

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02363

Today is the Fourth of July and I am not at all excited about celebrating. I started the day with my morning walk along Great Bay and nearly ran into my old manager, someone I despise. Luckily he did not see me and I shot past him quickly. I did text my cousin to let him know what I saw. It took the rest of the walk to calm back down.

Around 10am we headed over to Eva’s friend Max’s house so that we could park in his yard and walk down to the Science School so Eva could link up with the staff there to be a part of the parade. Allison, Andy and I walked around Woods Hole for a while and then found seats to watch the parade.

I don’t like parades. Rather, I don’t like people at parades. No matter where we are there is always someone moving right in front of us or squeezing by me. We were 15 people all seated along steps and for some reason every person who wanted to get behind us went by me. Every one. I was watching. Then there are people who crowd in on the parade. It annoys me so much.

I wasn’t in the mood to celebrate America today and this parade is just the one I needed. It began with about 12 people all dressed in black holding black signs that said things like “Rejects Science – This is Fascism” They were silent and the crowd was pretty quiet too. It was powerful. After that we had all the science labs and the science school come by with there “floats”. There were no actual floats but rather themes for each of the labs. It was cool. Eva got to walk with her new friend Max along the route.

After the parade we went to Max’s house for bagels. Max’s dad was very nice. Eva had a nice time. We were quietly sitting in one corner of the deck because we did not know anyone and it felt like everyone knew everyone else. Was a bit hard to interact too much. We stayed till about 3pm and then headed home.

fireworks

For the night we had my cousin Bill and his family came over. Andy entertained the kids and they loved playing with him so much that they asked if he would go with them to the beach to watch the fireworks. I manned the grill with the help of my Dad. We did burgers and dogs so we kept it simple. I watched the fireworks from the porch with my parents and Eva. Allison went to the beach with Bill and his family. The fireworks were very nice. It was a fairly quiet night except for the renters at the Smith’s house. They were out till 2am talking very loudly. Hard to sleep.

Review: Lumibricks Izakaya Building ...

The folks from Lumibricks sent me their latest building set, the Izakaya for free to build and review. Opinions are 100% my own. I've built a few sets from Lumibricks (formerly FunWhole) in the past and they are really fun and interesting. The photo above is of the Izakaya and also The Apartment. they are both part of a Cyberpunk theme called Neoncity. At this time there are also two additional buildings that you can build and add to this whole theme, the Game Stack and the Floating Train Station. The great things about these sets is that they light up. As you build you are also adding lights and wires and ways to illuminate the amazing build. Once you're done building you fire up some power and the lights blaze up. With Neoncity sets you get some incredible Nenon effects light signs and even neon tube lights. That is one of the coolest things about these sets is how the lights are incorporated into the build. Some very innovative bricks were made in order to thread the wiring...

2025 Family Ornament ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02515 We put our tree up the other day and I had already bought the 2025 Hallmark Keepsake ornament for our yearly family photo ornament. I love these ornaments on the tree. We have them from 2005 to now.

Christmas Tree Is Up ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02510 Yesterday we put up the trees and today we decided to decorate the tree after dinner. Our tree is now mostly our family photo ornaments. We have a bunch of ornaments but with over 20 years of family photo ornaments it look like the predominant ornament type that we'll see. We did get a 2025 Hallmark one as well and I have to select this year's photo.
