Celebrating Our Anniversary on Federal Hill ...

Celebrating Our Anniversary on Federal Hill

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02494

When Allison and I started discussing our 20th Anniversary and how to celebrate it we were looking at a few things but they were things we had done before. Then Allison sent me a link to the Providence Tour company. she had gone with Eva and her friend Aviva on the Providence Haunted Authors Tour and really enjoyed it. The company had a Dinner Stroll on Federal Hill so we booked it for tonight. The stroll took us to Cassarino’s, Trattoria Appia, Pane e Vino, and Anthony’s Authentic Italian Cuisine.

We were on the tour with three other couples who were all friends. By the end of the night we had had good conversations with most everyone from the group. We were about 10 years younger than the rest of the group. We learned that our tour guide was from North Attleboro. She was very nice.

Our adventure started at Cassarino's for an appetizer sampler of calamari, bruschetta, stuffed mushrooms and clams casino. Everything was excellent. We were allotted 35 minutes at each location and the time went by very quickly. Next was the pasta course at Trattoria Appia. I loved the look of this place. Our photo is from inside that location. there we had a sampling of four pastas and I cannot for the life of me remember all of them but they are all handmade in house. They were excellent.

We continued along the street to Pane e Vino for the main course which was Eggplant Rollatini. I was not thrilled with this option because every time I've ever had eggplant I was not a fan because I did not enjoy the taste. However, this was really good and I had a couple of pieces.

Our last location was Anthony’s Authentic Italian Cuisine for some cannoli and coffee. It was an excellent tour and we learned about so many of the great places to eat on Federal hill, not just the ones we went to. The other couples were all from Cranston and knew there way up and down the hill and all the places to eat, so we got many recommendations.

It so happens that I had been in Cranston earlier int he day because I decided to go and look for the comic book shop The Time Capsule in Seekonk. Well, they have two locations and my GPS pointed me to the Cranston one. Once I realized that I went over there and checked out that location, found a couple comics I was missing and then headed over to the Seekonk location. At the Seekonk location I was able to finish off the series I had picked up yesterday at my local comic book shop, The Laughing Shield.

When we got home we were met with an awful smell. The pipe in the basement had backed up again so I spent a while cleaning that up before bed.

Review: Lumibricks Izakaya Building ...

The folks from Lumibricks sent me their latest building set, the Izakaya for free to build and review. Opinions are 100% my own. I've built a few sets from Lumibricks (formerly FunWhole) in the past and they are really fun and interesting. The photo above is of the Izakaya and also The Apartment. they are both part of a Cyberpunk theme called Neoncity. At this time there are also two additional buildings that you can build and add to this whole theme, the Game Stack and the Floating Train Station. The great things about these sets is that they light up. As you build you are also adding lights and wires and ways to illuminate the amazing build. Once you're done building you fire up some power and the lights blaze up. With Neoncity sets you get some incredible Nenon effects light signs and even neon tube lights. That is one of the coolest things about these sets is how the lights are incorporated into the build. Some very innovative bricks were made in order to thread the wiring...

Christmas Tree Is Up ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02510 Yesterday we put up the trees and today we decided to decorate the tree after dinner. Our tree is now mostly our family photo ornaments. We have a bunch of ornaments but with over 20 years of family photo ornaments it look like the predominant ornament type that we'll see. We did get a 2025 Hallmark one as well and I have to select this year's photo.

2025 Family Ornament ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02515 We put our tree up the other day and I had already bought the 2025 Hallmark Keepsake ornament for our yearly family photo ornament. I love these ornaments on the tree. We have them from 2005 to now.
