Today I came out to see that the hood of my car had several prominent scratches on it. The snow had finally melted off enough to notice it. My first thought was that when the kids were clearing off the car that they used a shovel and that is where the scratches came from. But, Allison was out with them and said that they only used the foam snow remover. Then I thought that someone plowing backed into the hood of my car. I also thought that maybe something happened while I was out parked somewhere but I hadn't gone anywhere. It was driving me crazy.
When I picked Andy up from clubs today I asked if they had used a shovel to clear the snow away. They had not used a shovel. I explained that there were several scratches and a bit of a dent on the hood of the car. I mentioned that I couldn't figure out what did it and wondered if a plow backed into it. Well, it wasn't a plow. Andy had been walking on the snow in my old snowshoes and must not have realized that they were on the hood of my car. There was enough snow out there to make that sort of mistake. I told andy that I was not mad and that I had been more annoyed not knowing what had happened.
Tonight as I drove home from Theater rehearsal I thought back to when I was a kid. I was working with my dad one Summer and I took his truck out to get lunch or to the lumber yard. I was a fairly new driver and as I backed out I bumped something. I thought I had driven over a rock or something but I had actually banged into a pillar or something that was next to the passenger side door. I did not know this until I returned and my dad saw his truck and the very large scratch and dent on that door. I can now sympathize with what my Dad must have been feeling at seeing that.
As for my car, I've ordered some touch up paint and some claw mark stickers to put over the scratches. as long as I get the paint on there I can prevent it from rusting and I am not too worried about the scratches because I'm going to cover them up. It'll go with the existing look of the car anyway.
