MassArt Accepted Students Day ...

MassArt Accepted Students Day

Photo-A-Day #02649

Today Allison, Eva and I went into Boston for Accepted Students Day at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. We were there early for a special breakfast for scholarship students. Those students who had received presidential, provost and other scholarships. Eva received one and so was honored at the event. We walked in and got registered. Eva was given a tote bag with a water bottle and a few other items. We went to the smaller auditorium which must have been an old gymnasium for breakfast with the college president. I guess she came over to chat with our table when I went out and got more bacon.

At the breakfast they had a presentation and showed artwork from each student present and give them each a certificate and a pretty nice coffee mug. We sat wit a family from Vermont and a young man from Newton.

After the breakfast there was a presentation in another, larger auditorium. There we also had an address by the president but also from other members of the staff. That was a bout a half hour and then we went across the street to the residence hall called The Treehouse. We toured a couple of rooms as well as the common spaces for students. This hall is actually filled with Mass Art and students from the College of Pharmacy and Health. Certain floors are for each college. There are two other residence halls for MassArt students. I took this shot from the top of the Treehouse residence hall, floor 20.

After the Residence Hall tour we went back to the main hall and Eva got her sweatshirt for having committed to the school. We also went around and talked with many people from the different services on campus. After that we made our way to the fashion studios and spoke at length with one of the professors as well as students. We got to look at the senior studios and talk with some seniors who were working on their thesis projects.

After the fashion floor we went to find the fibers area and ended up walking around the outside of the building. When we came back in we went to the Printmaking studio where Eva was able to screenprint a design on her tote bag. It was a nice thing to do as part of the day.

Our day at MassArt

It was a great day and we are excited for Eva's future there.

Review: Lumibricks Izakaya Building ...

The folks from Lumibricks sent me their latest building set, the Izakaya for free to build and review. Opinions are 100% my own. I've built a few sets from Lumibricks (formerly FunWhole) in the past and they are really fun and interesting. The photo above is of the Izakaya and also The Apartment. they are both part of a Cyberpunk theme called Neoncity. At this time there are also two additional buildings that you can build and add to this whole theme, the Game Stack and the Floating Train Station. The great things about these sets is that they light up. As you build you are also adding lights and wires and ways to illuminate the amazing build. Once you're done building you fire up some power and the lights blaze up. With Neoncity sets you get some incredible Nenon effects light signs and even neon tube lights. That is one of the coolest things about these sets is how the lights are incorporated into the build. Some very innovative bricks were made in order to thread the wiring...

2025 Family Ornament ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02515 We put our tree up the other day and I had already bought the 2025 Hallmark Keepsake ornament for our yearly family photo ornament. I love these ornaments on the tree. We have them from 2005 to now.

Christmas Tree Is Up ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02510 Yesterday we put up the trees and today we decided to decorate the tree after dinner. Our tree is now mostly our family photo ornaments. We have a bunch of ornaments but with over 20 years of family photo ornaments it look like the predominant ornament type that we'll see. We did get a 2025 Hallmark one as well and I have to select this year's photo.
