Photo-A-Day #02778
Today we took a trip around Rhode Island to see the Trolls that were created by artist Thomas Dambo. There are 5 of them in Rhode Island and we've seen 2 of them before on a previous adventure, but today we decided that as one of the last big family adventures before College and High School we'd take this trip. You can get to each of the trolls pretty easily and see them all in one day. There are 4 stops because two trolls are at one of the stops.
We decided to drive out to the Troll that was furthest from us. That would be Young Boulder. The map we had said to put the actual GPS coordinates into your map program and that saved us from a very long walk to find this guy.
Andy decided that they would be getting as close as possible to each troll for a photo. Not climbing on it or anything, very respectful, just getting close to each one.
At each stop Eva took out their sketchbook and did a quick sketch of each troll. Then took a reference photo to finish the sketch later.
We met a bunch of people along the route. Some were doing all the trolls int he same day, too. Some were going our way and some were starting from closer to the northernmost Troll.
Each toll has a metal sign with a QR code for more information about the troll. We tried to find each sign but were unable to. They were rather hidden in many places.
Our second stop was a stop that we had done before. This was to see Erik Rock and Greta Ganit. They are both in a park area and we have been to see them both before.
Eva was very diligent with their sketches and caught me trying to be stealthy and take photos while they sketched. I was not stealthy.
Occasionally we made the kids pose near the trolls especially when we saw families with much littler kids doing it.

We visited the third troll, Greta Granit. Sometimes Granit was spelled without an e and other times spelled with an "e". This one was cool because it incorporated a ton of shells in the design.

It was getting later int he afternoon and we were going to stop for a meal but instead we found the 4th troll. This was a rather big boy. Iver Mudslider was this Troll's name. Here we met some people who had been to see many other trolls across the country. There are 44 across the country at this time.

This was a very big guy and he was on top of a hill. Probably preparing to mud slide down.

We tried to go to a place called the Thirsty Beaver but they were not going to hav ea kitchen until 4pm. It was around 2 and we were hungry so we went and found another place called, The Trap.
At the Trap we had really good food. I got a short rib grilled Cheese and Andy got a French Onion Soup burger. Allison and Eva shared some buffalo wings. I learned that Andy has a fondness for Chess and they are really good at it.
After some heavy traffic we made our way to he very last Troll, Mrs. Skipper. This is a really interesting one in my opinion because of the canoe on her head.
Right by the water looking out toward Providence this troll is the closest one to us but one of the more convoluted to get to.
